The biology department is a scientific department in the college of science/ University of Raparin in Ranya city. This department was first founded in 2012. In 2018 the department was suspended or closed, and reopened again for the 2021-2022 academic year. The department follows the Bologna process, and the language of instruction is English. It takes four years, eight semesters of practical and theoretical subjects to earn 240 ECTS credits and get B.Sc. .

Mission

The department of biology prepares students to be professional pioneers on a scientific basis about the entire animal world and human beings. The main goal in studying this science is to maintain the planet and human health in particular. Students are motivated to conduct their scientific research in the latest technology-equipped laboratories, newest scientific research methods.

Vision

The department provides an excellent academic environment for students through the latest study programs “the Bologna process” in which students actively participate to exchange information among themselves as well as with the academic staff. Students of this department will have the opportunity to use their abilities and skills to work in laboratories of the department as well as other laboratories. Graduates of this department will have the opportunity to continue their studies as postgraduates in the country and abroad so as they become pioneers in the field.

Objectives

• The department provides an excellent academic environment for students through the latest study programs “the Bologna process” in which students actively participate to exchange information between themselves as well as with the academic staff. • Graduates of this department get a bachelor's degree in the biology science field. Graduates can work in laboratories of general and private health sectors, food factories, quality control, and pharmaceutical companies. • Providing the opportunity to actively learn in advanced laboratories • Students are motivated and trained to conduct advanced research in the field.
